The design of novel metallodrugs with improved biological characteristic is a hot topic in the fields of inorganic chemistry. In this work the synthesis and the structural characterization of novel platinum complexes with carbohydrate-derived ligands, to enhance the selectivity of the agents for cancer cells, was performed. The identity of the new synthesized molecules was confirmed by QTOF analysis. Moreover, the reactivity of the compounds with with deoxyguanosine monophosphate and the tripeptide glutathione was studied by FT-MS Orbitrap. Unrevealing molecular interactions between metallodrugs and relevant biomolecules allows to disclose key features on their mechanism of action, and mass spectrometry is a powerful tool in this frame. Data analysis was performed using the tool “Complex mixtures of compounds” revealing characteristic aspects in the reactivity of our platinum complexes.
